Step 1: Determine Mission Alignment and Eligibility
LFK funds organizations whose missions align with our vision and desired outcomes. We make grants in alignment with our focus areas. Review our About Us page for more information about our Purpose, Vision, Mission, and Focus Areas to determine if there is alignment between your organization and LFK.
To be eligible for funding from LFK, your organization must:
Be a 501(c)(3) organization in good standing with the IRS.
Serve vulnerable populations in one or more of our six counties: Jefferson, Shelby, Bullitt, Nelson, and Hardin counties in Kentucky and Clark County in Indiana.
LFK does not fund:
Long-term debt financing
Endowments
Re-granting projects
Step 2: Submit a Letter of Interest
If you believe that there is mission alignment between your organization and LFK, you are required to complete our Letter of Interest (LOI).The LOI will provide LFK staff with an overview of your organization and the project for which you are seeking funding. Our team will carefully review all LOIs and determine if your submission advances to the next stage.
Step 3: Submit a Full Proposal
Upon reviewing LOIs, staff will invite select organizations to complete a comprehensive grant proposal covering the details of your organization and project. The advisory council plays a role in the full proposal review stage.
Step 4: Hold a Site Visit
After the proposals have been evaluated, we will invite a subset of organizations to participate in an in-person site visit as the final step in our assessment. This is an opportunity to see your organization’s mission in action and to discuss the full proposal.
